Hearty Cabbage Soup

I love cabbage and always try to come up with new ideas for cooking with it; it’s a very economical staple in the fall and winter months, thus this recipe. Add any vegetables or meats that you like, this a recipe of great versatility! Serve with garlic bread topped with Italian seasoning. Enjoy!

In a large heavy pot, cook onion and apple in oil over medium-high heat until lightly browned. Stir in cabbage and garlic, then reduce heat. Stir in potato, broth, Italian seasoning and sugar; cover and simmer 30 minutes.

Stir in cream, salt and pepper. Heat through and serve.
