I created this hamburger stew recipe when my kids were little. I needed a simple recipe that I could put together the night before and pop in the slow cooker in the morning just before heading to work. And it’s loaded with veggies that my kids love! They gobble it up! Great with a nice loaf of crusty bread.
Step: 1
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
Step: 2
Transfer ground beef to the bottom of a slow cooker. Layer cabbage, broccoli, potatoes, onion, carrots, and peas, one by one, on top of the meat. Pour vegetable juice over top. Season with salt and pepper.
Step: 3
Cover and cook until vegetables are tender, 6 to 8 hours on Low, gently stirring after a few hours of cooking.

The word “stew” can refer to both a food and a cooking method. Stewing makes not fast cooking chunks of meat, vegetables or beans in a flavorful liquid . It’s same as to braising, but it does have a few notable differences. The raw animal vested is chopped into few of pieces but of being cooked whole , and the water based material all of it covers the essential in a stew as compared to a braise’s halfway all of it . When meat or vegetables are cooked using this method, the resulting dish is called stew.
Stew has a perception for being a rib-sticking eating process that comfortable you up on a cold , winter day. It’s right that ; a bowl of classic beef stew does have warming properties , but stew’s comfort factor more than a way beyond preserving you from the cold . It’s all about those tender chunks of meat and vegetables, swimming in a thick, ultra-rich gravy. The way they come together creates the greatest comfort food, no matter the weather.
