Slow Cooker Ham and Bean Soup

This was a spur of the moment recipe I made to use the ham bone left from Easter. It’s really easy and tastes great on a cold evening!

Step: 1

Place 15-bean soup mix in a large bowl and cover with several inches of cool water; soak in refrigerator 8 hours to overnight. Drain and rinse.

Step: 2

Place 15-bean soup mix, ham bone, cooked ham, chicken broth, water, onion, carrots, great Northern beans, garlic, black pepper, salt, and bay leaf in a slow cooker; stir to combine. Cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours.

The name of “stew” can process to both a dish and a make dishes method. Stewing involves not fast cooking piece of meat, vegetables or beans in a flavorful liquid . It’s similar to braising, instead it makes have a few notable differences. The meat is chopped into few of pieces but of being processing menu all of it , and the water based material completely covers the contents in a stew as different to a braise’s halfway full . When meat or vegetables are cooked using this method, the resulting dish is called stew.

Stew has a perception for making a rib-sticking eating process that comfortable you up on a freezing , winter day. It’s right that ; a bowl of old menu of beef stew does have warming featured food , but stew’s cozy factor goes way beyond preserving you from the chill .
